SpaceX Deliberately Blows Up the Falcon 9 Rocket as Part of a Test!

Updated: Mar 7, 2021

On 19th January 2020, at 10:12 am, EST, SpaceX launched their Falcon 9 as part of an abort test. The abort test would check that the capsule (the Crew Dragon capsule) would be able to separate from the rocket if it exploded, or was damaged, so that the astronauts would be saved. This time there weren't any astronauts on board, but the capsule will be able to carry astronauts into space in the future. The test started with a perfect launch, separation, and splashdown. After the separation, the Falcon 9 rocket exploded as expected. You can watch the launch here:

Skip to 2:00 for the separation of the capsule and explosion of the rocket.

Skip to 5:10 for parachute deployment.
